University of Calicut Inspection Committee Visit for Autonomous Conferment

The Inspection Committee constituted by the University of Calicut visited KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, in connection with the proposal for granting autonomous status to the institution.

The committee was constituted as per the directions of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, based on the application submitted by the college to the University Grants Commission (UGC) through the UGC portal. The purpose of the visit was to assess the institutional readiness and eligibility for the conferment of autonomous status in accordance with UGC regulations.

During the visit, the committee evaluated various academic and administrative parameters, including curricular planning and implementation, teaching–learning and evaluation processes, academic performance, availability of qualified faculty, infrastructure & learning resources, ICT facilities, assessment and examination mechanisms ensuring confidentiality and transparency and the effective functioning of statutory and non-statutory committees. The quality assurance practices, governance mechanisms and institutional preparedness for academic and administrative autonomy were also reviewed.

The Inspection Committee comprised Sri T. J. Martin (Convenor, Member Syndicate), Adv. M. B. Faisal (Member Syndicate), Dr. Rasheed Ahammed P (Member Syndicate), Dr. Mohamed Haneefa K, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Dr. R. V. M. Divakaran, Dean, Faculty of Language & Literature.

As part of the inspection process, the committee interacted with teaching staff, non-teaching staff, students, parents and members of the Governing Body to assess stakeholder participation, institutional practices and overall performance. The college Principal Prof. (Dr.) Muhammed Basheer Ummathur made a detailed presentation highlighting the academic achievements, infrastructure development, quality initiatives, research and extension activities, student support systems, NAAC-related details and the institution’s plan of action upon obtaining autonomous status.

The visit marked an important milestone in the college’s efforts towards academic excellence, quality enhancement and institutional autonomy.
