The Election Awareness Talk - I, organized by the Electoral Literacy Cell in association with NSS at Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, on 7th March 2025, aimed to educate students on electoral processes and democracy. The event featured a welcome speech by Ms. Fathima Yusra (Student Coordinator, ELC), a Presidential Address by Dr. Haris U (ELC Coordinator) and felicitations by Dr. Faseela P (NSS Program Officer) and Ms. Hana Fathima. The keynote session was delivered by Adv. K Abdurahman, President of Malappuram Block Panchayath, who provided insights into the Indian Constitution, democracy and the electoral system, emphasizing the role of youth in elections. He elaborated on the Indian electoral process, the responsibilities of voters, the significance of free and fair elections and the challenges of electoral malpractices. He also highlighted the She Vote campaign, stressing the importance of women’s participation in the electoral system, encouraging students to break barriers and actively engage in shaping the nation’s future through informed voting. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Fathima Hashim (NSS Secretary). The program effectively raised awareness about electoral responsibilities, fostering a sense of civic duty and encouraging students, especially women, to participate actively in the democratic process.
