Science Club Inauguration and World Environment Day Celebration 2025

The Department of Chemistry in association with the Science Club of KAHM Unity Women’s College, Manjeri organized a combined event marking the inauguration of the Science Club and the observance of World Environment Day on 5th June 2025. The programme was held at Aryabhatta Hall from 1.10 PM to 2.15 PM.
The event revolved around the theme “Putting an End to Plastic Pollution: Awareness into Action,” aligning with the global focus on combating plastic pollution through community education and proactive engagement.
The session was graced by Dr. Divya PN, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry, Government Women’s College, Malappuram, who served as the resource person. In her address, Dr. Divya highlighted the alarming impacts of plastic pollution on ecosystems and human health. She urged students to take small, actionable steps to reduce plastic dependency and to act as ambassadors of sustainable living. Her thought-provoking presentation bridged scientific knowledge with practical strategies, effectively turning awareness into actionable outcomes.
The programme also included the formal inauguration of the college’s Science Club, which aims to cultivate scientific curiosity and critical thinking among students. The event was coordinated by Ms. Suhada KM, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, serving as the Teacher Coordinator. Ms. Hana Fathima, a fifth-semester BSc Chemistry student, acted as the Student Coordinator and ensured active student participation.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic response from students and faculty members. It successfully brought attention to pressing environmental issues while igniting scientific temperament and responsibility among the student community.
