World Paper Bag Day – Paper Bag Making Workshop

As part of World Paper Bag Day, the NCC Army Wing of KAHM Unity Women's College (Autonomous), Manjeri (under 9 (K) Girls Battalion NCC, Calicut) organized a Paper Bag Making Workshop on 10 July 2026 at NRSC with the theme "Paper Today, Greener Tomorrow." The workshop aimed to create awareness about reducing plastic usage, promote eco-friendly alternatives, and encourage students to adopt sustainable practices for environmental conservation. The resource person, CDT Fathima Rinshida M, III Semester BSc FCS, explained the importance of paper bags and demonstrated the step-by-step process of making reusable paper bags.
Lt. Loosiya K.P., Associate NCC Officer, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the workshop in inspiring the younger generation to embrace environmentally responsible practices, thereby contributing to a plastic-free and greener tomorrow. Prof. (Dr.) Muhammed Basheer Ummathur, Principal, appreciated the initiative taken by the NCC cadets and emphasized the importance of adopting eco-friendly practices, reducing single-use plastics, and working collectively towards building a sustainable and green campus. The vote of thanks was delivered by L/CPL Rishva K., V Semester B.A. History, the student coordinator. A total of 36 NCC cadets actively participated in the workshop. The programme successfully enhanced the participants' practical skills in paper bag making and strengthened their commitment to environmental protection and sustainable living.
